Yellow Cake (from scratch)

So the other day, I was just craving for some cake.  Not just any cake but a nice homemade cake (from scratch).  So I went searching and found this recipe on line from www.ehow.com

  • 1 1/2 c. butter (room temperature)
  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 tsp. almond extract
  • 3 c. flour
  • 3/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • mixer bowl and mixer

      In a mixer bowl, cream the butter and the sugar until light and fluffy.

      Add eggs 1 at a time, beating after each one with mixer.
      Mix well.

      Mix in vanilla and almond extracts.

      In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt, and baking powder.

      Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, start with the flour first.

      Pour into prepared baking pans and bake at 350 degrees until toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely and decorate.
